Enjoy a Bacchanalian feast, real Roman money, laurel wreaths and fun at 2024 awards
If you want to be coining it in at The Henries Awards this year, step up now to grab the last tickets to the fabulous ancient Rome-themed party tomorrow, Thursday, 3 October.
Real 2,000-year-old Roman coins will be on tables for select gladiators and there will be plenty of laurel wreathes to help everyone get in the theme, while clinching a photo on the selfie scene created by N Smith, generously sponsored by retail group House of Cards.
Wonderful Windles Group has also come up trumps printing a vibrant modern take on the theme for the menu and place setting cards, revealing the Bacchanalian feast that awaits attendees at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel.
To go with the incredible scroll invitations which were handmade by Paper Mirchi, including the delivery boxes, House of Cards is bringing the whole event bang up to date by arranging an airbrush tattoo artist and casino, while Ohh Deer has sponsored drag queen Ruby Violet to make a welcome return after being such a hit last year, to keep the party spirit flowing.
To kick things off, the traditional Higher Or Lower game will be played, with prizes including a magnum of Champagne, Horrible Histories board game and hotel stayover.
There’s also the fabulous raffle with incredible prizes from a range of generous sponsors, such as a fragrance fest, footie derby, racetrack thrills, theatre tickets, fabulous food, vineyard tour, and spa pampering which are also on the cards if your number comes up in the raffle on the night, at just £20 for six tickets, or three for £10.
Every single penny boosts The Light Fund’s coffers, where over £2million has been given away since its inception in 2004 to more than 250 charity projects helping less fortunate men, women and children all over the world – and half the money from this year’s event will then be given to Pancreatic Cancer UK, in honour of Emotional Rescue’s Toni Cresswell, who sadly died of the disease last week.
The main focus of the evening will be to reveal all the winners of The Henries Awards 2024, the Oscars of the greeting card industry, from the finalists in the product and The Lynn Tait Most Promising Young Designer Or Artist categories and those chosen by retailers for the Best Service To The Independent trophy.
And the stage will be perfectly set thanks to cardboard wizards N Smith, who have designed columns, plinths and busts to evoke that ancient Rome feeling.
The Henries has a very strong roster of sponsors, without whom the awards would not be possible, and this year’s include Alpha Colour Printers, The Bright Group, Cardfactory, Cardgains, Cardzone Group, Designer Greetings, EBB, Fedrigoni, G.F Smith, Gould, Graphite Creative, Herbert Walkers, House of Cards, Imaging Centre, Loxleys, McDaniels Law, N Smith, Ohh Deer, Postmark, Progressive Greetings Live, Scribbler, The Sherwood Group, Skeet Print, Skylight Media, Spring Fair & Autumn Fair, Tiger Feet, Windles, and UK Envelope Company.
