Mantons makes People In Retail finals

Greetings indie competes with Fortnum & Mason, The Co-Op and The Perfume Shop for top award

 

Isle of Man indie greetings retailer Mantons Cards is up against the likes of Fortnum & Mason, The Co-Op and The Perfume Shop as a finalist in the prestigious People In Retail awards.

Now in its second year, the competition run by The Retail Bulletin acknowledges the crucial role of people in any successful organisation and has again partnered with The Retail Trust charity that cares for those working in the industry.

As the finalists were revealed today, 11 June, Port Erin-based Mantons is one of four nominated in the Store Champion/Team Of The Year category, alongside F&M’s stock operations goods-in team; Lincolnshire Co-Op’s Carlton Food Store in Selby, and The Perfume Shop in Blanchardstown.

“To be considered alongside some of the best-known and largest retailers in the UK is an exciting honour for myself and the team,” Mantons’ owner Chris Beards said. “I am very much looking forward to attending the awards ceremony in London this September.

“As well as thanking the judges for the nomination I’d also like to thank all our amazing team members and our fantastic customers who have helped to make this possible with their support. We’re extremely proud to have been have been chosen as a finalist for one of the most important awards in retail.”

Finalists for the 14 categories were chosen the 20 judges from across the retail spectrum during an intensive three-day evaluation process, and a spokesperson commented: “These exceptional individuals and retailers have showcased remarkable dedication, significant achievements, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, embodying the core values and culture that are essential to successful businesses in the retail industry. Their inspiring efforts highlight the crucial role people play in driving the sector forward.”

The other categories are The JEDI (justice, equality, diversity, inclusion) Award; People Development Team Of The Year; Manager Of The Year; Team Of The Year; Rising Spark Award; Community Engagement Programme Of The Year; Retail Association Of The Year; Customer Service Team Of The Year; Retail Partner Of The Year; Executive Of The Year; Retail Employer Of The Year; and Spirit Of Excellence Awards.

The winners will be announced in London on 26 September, at a black-tie gala, and the full list of finalists can be found here.
