Calling young designers for The Henries

The Lynn Tait Most Promising Young Designer Or Artist award submissions due by 26 July

The search is on for the best new talent as the deadline draws closer for The Lynn Tait Most Promising Young Designer Or Artist category in The Henries 2023.

Sponsored by greeting card retailer Postmark, this category is completely free to enter and open to all creatives – which includes artists, illustrators, designers, photographers, and font maestros – employed by a publisher or freelance, aged 35 or under on July 1, but you have to be quick as entries must arrive by Wednesday, 26 July.

“This special award category needs to be appreciated in the flesh,” explained Jakki Brown, md of Max Publishing which owns and organises The Henries, “so we invite the young designers to create a mood board which showcases their artistic prowess and creative talent, including their approach to greeting card design.”

The boards can be any size, although A1 has proved popular, and should include information about the entrant as well as having a photograph of the artist if they wish.

The mood boards need to be delivered to Jakki Brown, at Max Publishing, The Henries, United House, North Road, London, L7 9DP by Wednesday, 26 July, at 5pm at the latest, and must include your contact details.

They will then be organised ready for display during The Henries’ physical judging event which takes place in a couple of weeks’ time with a judging panel, comprising entirely of retail buyers, considering the artwork and creativity along with greeting cards and giftwrappings from the shortlisted entries to all the other product categories in the awards, which were announced on Monday, 17 July, and cast their votes to arrive at the finalists and winners.

Jakki added: “There’s no size limitation to Young Designer submissions, which should include information about yourself and your inspirations as well as examples of work such as greeting card designs and anything that highlights your artistic prowess – come on you wonderful creatives, this is your time to shine!”
