Scribbler kiosks expand into Ireland

FujiFilm partnership sees 29 installed and Irish-based retailer Harvey Norman to add 16 more

Scribbler’s kiosk partnership with FujiFilm is taking off as 29 of the greeting card print-on-demand greeting card machines are in situ across various outlets and the project is now expanding into Ireland, debuting in the Harvey Norman chain.

The mix of commercial trials and purchased kiosks now means the machines are in place in retail spaces, office premises, education sites and hospitals with more to follow.

Home goods retailer Harvey Norman is set to install kiosks in all of its 16 stores in the Republic of Ireland, and will be one of the first retailers to offer Scribbler’s cards to the Irish consumer in a retail environment.

Having started in Sydney, Australia, with a single electrical appliance outlet Harvey Norman has expanded to a 300-strong worldwide estate over the past 14 years, adding a store presence in Malaysia, Singapore, Slovenia, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

While Scribbler is well known for its humorous greeting designs, often erring on the naughty side, the latest Irish connection has thrown up an interesting request, as Jon Difford, FujiFilm’s head of sales, told PG Buzz: “There has been a request from the team in Ireland for confirmation and communion content and the Scribbler team are working on this!”

Scribbler and FujiFilm see Ireland as “a significant opportunity” as there is a huge convenience market primed for the benefits of a small-footprint greeting card kiosk that now holds up to 2,000 different designs from Scribbler, many of which have proved themselves as bestsellers in its own 34 outlets across England, Scotland and Wales, as well as its online portal.

As Jon added: “The variety of diverse cards the kiosk has to offer enables retailers to offer an unrivalled selection of card content, including the popular confirmation and communion cards, without taking up premium retail space that traditional merchandised cards currently require.”

FujiFilm has also recently appointed Charlotte Lancashire as business development manager to follow up on leads and opportunities for the system. Charlotte’s previous experience includes the ME Group (formerly Photo-Me), Marchwood and Bresser.
