Emma Ball is playing her cards right as the publisher’s latest release is a set of six different playing card packs extrapolated from her greeting card designs.

Emma paints her own designs in watercolours and has expanded from cards featuring her distinctive seaside and wildlife illustrations into kitchenware, tins, trays, mugs, coasters, placemats, cushions, washi tape, stationery, and jigsaws, and has now taken the range even further.

Speaking of the new ace in the company’s pack Emma said: “Look what’s arrived – playing cards! I so enjoyed designing these once I got my head around them.”

There are six playing card packs – British Birds, Felted Sheep, Sea Thrift Puffins, Sealife, Woolly Puffins and Woolly Sheep & Alpaca – which are all recognisable from Emma’s paintings which also often incorporate her love of knitting and yarn.

Having run Emma Ball Ltd since 2001, the Nottingham-based company now includes licences with artists including Shelly Perkings, Eric Heyman, Caroline Cleave, Abigail Mill and Susie Lancome, and had a very successful Spring Fair at the start of February.

And, following on from her previous efforts raising money to help Ukrainian refugees through the Disasters Emergency Committee, Emma has just sent a £800 donation to DEC to help provide aid to people affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, having run a five-day event through to Sunday, 19 February, where 20% of the value of retail web orders were donated to the appeal.

Emma said: “I think we’ve all been watching the news and seeing the terrible situation happening in Turkey and Syria over the past week – having personally donated I can’t sit back and watch when I know that I can do more owning a business.

“Huge thank yous to everyone that placed an order over the past week – I’ve just rounded it up and sent £800 to the DEC earthquake appeal.”
