Better Trends Company shares design drivers at imminent trade show
There’s still time to register to see the biggest trends for 2023 at Top Drawer S/S, the three-day trade show that kicks off this weekend.
Running from Sunday to Tuesday, 15-17 January, at London’s Olympia in Kensington, Top Drawer has again partnered with the Better Trends Company to showcased the curated trends Rhythmic Form and Modern Psychedelic at the fair run by Clarion Events.
At the Better Trends Company the team believes “small businesses are the future of retail” and together they’re trying to change the way people think about trends with a key focus on “forecasting planet positives that foster inclusivity and ethical behaviours”.
Rhythmic Form is a trend that emphasises the use of repetitive shapes and patterns to create a sense of visual harmony within a space and usher in a feeling of calm.
By utilising a variety of materials and textures, this timeless trend can be easily incorporated into any space and the Better Trends Company believes it is just what people need as we enter 2023.
With Rhythmic Form, the simplicity of the shapes belies the multiple complex ways in which they’re used. Repetition and texture work together to create a meditative space and the feeling the style conveys is authentic and artistic in muted earth tones and desaturated brights.
The Modern Psychedelic trend is characterised by bold, vibrant colours and patterns that evoke a sense of defiant, unapologetic joy.
This style often features a mix of geometric shapes and organic curves, as well as a variety of textures and materials to create an eye-catching look that will turn heads.
Permacrisis was recently announced as the word of the year by Collins Dictionary, and Modern Psychedelic presents a defiant response as consumers look to embrace joyful, nostalgic and creative outlets through bright colour and bold pattern, Fluid prints mix with hypnotic structured patterns, adding moments of design joy.
