Jubilee greetings taken to Palace

GCA’s Cards For The Queen bumper delivery for Britain’s longest-reigning monarch

It’s official! The greeting card industry has wished Her Majesty The Queen a fabulous Platinum Jubilee with the delivery of a whole box of special cards.

The GCA/PG Cards For The Queen initiative saw publishers creating bespoke cards for Her Majesty which were put on display at the recent PG Live.

Also, as part of the show feature, visitors were invited to select a card from those on the stand, write their message, and pop it in the specially-created postbox, crafted entirely from cardboard by packaging and display company N Smith.

The GCA’s ceo Amanda Fergusson and membership and marketing manager Adriana Lovesy met at the London Chamber Of Commerce with Liz Henderson, director of membership and events, to collate the cards before taking them over to Buckingham Palace a few days ago.

And the parcel also included cards from schoolchildren and Brownie packs that had been sent to the GCA to pass on to the Queen, who is now the world’s second longest-reigning monarch verifiable by date, at 70 years and 152 days, behind Louis XIV of France, who had been king for 72 years 110 days when he died in 1715.

In the letter to the Queen’s Private Secretary accompanying the huge package of greeting cards, GCA ceo Amanda Fergusson said: “Please find enclosed greeting cards from our members across the country congratulating HM on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee, we would be grateful if you could please pass these on to HM.

“We have also enclosed some cards from local school children that were sent to us to pass on.

“Greeting cards are a uniquely British way of connecting and sharing sentiment, UK consumers send more cards per capita than any other nation, and the UK leads the world in greeting design and innovation, exporting our cards across the globe.”

And the letter mentioned the latest GCA Schools Initiative which aims to use greeting cards to connect up to 70 groups of UK schoolchildren with 70 schools in the Commonwealth country of Ghana, in celebration of the jubilee.
