Sad passing of Nathan Hitchcock

Abacus’ national sales manager died on Sunday

“It is with very much regret and sadness that we announce the death of Nathan Hitchcock, our national sales manager, who passed away at home on Sunday, 12 June,” Nick Carey, managing director of Abacus, told PG Buzz.

Having spent 20 of his 48 years working in the industry, Nathan was known to many and very much a familiar face at trade events, including PG Live only last week.

For the last five years Nathan had been an integral member of the Abacus Cards and Clare Maddicott Productions team.

Paying tribute to his colleague, Nick commented: “Nathan was a hugely-valued member of the Abacus team, constantly showing absolute dedication to the success of the company, as well as total personal commitment to his colleagues. We extend our utmost sympathies and condolences to Nathan’s family. He will be very sadly missed.”

Long-time industry pal and former GCA president Bill Greeno added: “Nathan was a really genuine guy. We did several Cardgains charity walks together and I know he was looking forward to undertaking this year’s charity challenge. I can’t believe he’s gone, I was only out for dinner with him last Tuesday evening at PG Live. It teaches you to make the most of every day.”

Prior to joining Abacus, Nathan’s other industry experience included as a self-employed sales agent, and working for Second Nature for 14 years, latterly as its sales manager.
