Clintons’ welcomed a special ‘celebrity’ to its Stevenage store recently – Kasi Dhar, creator of the winning design in the retailer’s annual Christmas card competition as part of its ongoing support for the Rays of Sunshine charity.
Rays of Sunshine is a children’s charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill children and their families, by granting magical wishes and providing ongoing support within hospitals. Every year, the charity invites the children and families it supports to take part in a competition, judged by an expert at Clintons, to design the front of a Christmas card.
This year it was talented 10-year old Kasi’s portrait of a festive penguin in the North-Pole that won the judges’ votes and was printed and packed into a box of ten cards is now on sale in all Clintons stores, with 15% of the sale price (excl VAT) being donated to Rays of Sunshine.
Kasi had a VIP trip with her family to Clintons’ Stevenage store to see the winning design on sale and present her with some gift vouchers as well as supply of her very own, self-designed Christmas cards.
“We all had a fantastic time as a family visiting the Clintons store. Kasi was buzzing with excitement all day and has been telling everyone — friends, family, teachers, and even the dentist — that she’s going to be a celebrity!” said Sarah Dhar, Kasi’s Mum. “Kasi had a blast designing her Christmas card, and it was such a positive thing for her to focus on at a time when she was going through so much. Watching that was wonderful! Rays Of Sunshine is an amazing charity who support families like us in so many ways. We are truly grateful for the all the experiences and memories they have given us.”
Clintons has a long running relationship with Rays of Sunshine. As Nicola Miller, buying director at Clintons, said “Supporting a charity such as this is an honour, and bringing some Christmas joy to someone as special as Kasi has been priceless. With what will hopefully be a more normal Christmas on the horizon, we are very excited to offer customers something they can give to loved-ones that has such a meaningful sentiment behind it. Nothing beats a handwritten card with a heartfelt message inside, and we’re certain Kasi’s card will spread the joy.”
