Hannah Curtis’ Art Agency, Creative Sparrow ‘Fledges’

Well-known and respected by many greeting card publishers and artists alike, Hannah Curtis (pictured above) has just launched her own art licensing agency, Creative Sparrow which is now representing a dozen different artists, designers and photographers.

Hannah found the inspiration for the company name very close to home. “I have always loved birds, but this summer I was really drawn to watching the sparrows in my garden,” says Hannah, with her own drawing of the bird forming part of the logo.

“The sparrow’s values of joy and protection, simplicity and community are at the heart of our creative management,” says Hannah.

The artists in Creative Sparrow’s inaugural ‘stable’ are a great mix of designers who have experience of the greeting card world as well as some who are totally new to the sector.

“It has been lovely to hear from so many great creatives who have been keen to work with us at Creative Sparrow, from Paulo Viveiros who I used to work with many years ago to Imogen Joy and Susse Linton who have never had their work published on cards before,” Hannah told PG Buzz.

“It is also lovely to have Andrew Thornton, formerly a designer for Pigment, on board as well as Bev Cunningham, formerly creative director of Abacus. It is great that having supplied her with designs in the past that now we are representing her as a talented photographer through her Ginger Bee Designs brand,” added Hannah.

Hannah is “overwhelmed and delighted” by the response she has received to the launch of Creative Sparrow. “The knock-on effect after Lockdown is evident, but generally morale in the industry is good and it feels as though new product is at the forefront of everyone’s mind. Publishers are keen to launch new ranges at the usual times that would normally coincide with the trade shows and I’m so happy to be working with our talented creatives to develop new ideas and styles.”

While Hannah will front face Creative Sparrow, her business partner, Judith Luddington is to oversee the commercial and operational aspects.
