The Henries 2020 greeting awards event will go ahead as planned on the evening of Thursday 10 December – however it will now take place digitally.
“While we, and so many from the greeting card community, had hoped with all our hearts to be able to meet and celebrate the industry’s achievements in person at The Henries, the ongoing coronavirus situation means this is not to be,” commented Jakki Brown, joint md of Max Publishing, which owns and organises The Henries. “If anything, the inherent challenges of the ongoing pandemic situation has further elevated the role greeting cards play in showing we care for one another and as such it is imperative that we honour greeting card publishing excellence – and this virtual extravaganza will be not only be a safe way of bringing everyone together in celebration, but we promise it will be fun too!” added Jakki.
This year has already seen The Henries entering and judging process move online, with some 50+ retail buyers’ votes resulting in the announcement of the worthy finalists a few weeks ago (https://www.pgbuzz.net/its-official-the-henries-2020-product-finalists-are-revealed/). The awards event was moved from its traditional October timeline in the hope that the Covid-19 situation would improve sufficiently for everyone to get together physically in December.
Paying tribute to support from the greeting card community to the changes, Warren Lomax, joint md of Max Publishing said: “The greeting card community really has pulled together to ensure The Henries 2020 will happen. Publishers pulled out the stops to enter, retailers gave up hours and hours to judge the 9,000 cards entered and every one of the sponsors I have spoken to has pledged their continued support. We look forward to sharing more in the coming weeks on how everyone can get involved – make this the biggest Henries ever.”
The finer details of The Henries 2020 digital awards – including timings and how companies/individuals can participate – will be announced shortly, but as well as the awards’ announcement, it will include plenty of opportunities to network and have some fun.
