Brussels sprouts, cheap tequila, lemons and non-alcoholic beer having something in common. They are some of the ‘tastes of the new normal’ according to a selection of greeting card publishers, retailers and suppliers who revealed their taste sensations as well as how life is panning out for their respective businesses in the Viewpoints section of the publication. PG columnists Cardsharp, David Robertson and Jeremy Corner serve up a heady smorgasbord of food for thought. While Cardsharp covers the shock news of the departure of Karen Hubbard, ceo of Card Factory (click to pages 34-35), indie stalwart David Robertson makes the canny observation of how, many decades on from when his parents first took over the JP Pozzi newsagent business, so the demand for combs, jigsaws and shoelaces is still alive and kicking in this weird time. In keeping with the ‘finery of greenery’ theme of The Retas 2020, PG immerses itself in the verdant trend for pot plants which have cultivated a whole host of greeting card designs.
