Having lagged well behind other supermarket players on the replenishment of its greeting card displays during lockdown, Tesco confirmed to PG Buzz that around 600 of its 3,000+ stores are now being merchandised on the card front.
The UK’s largest supermarket has worked with Hallmark, its category partner on greeting cards which brokers in other publishers’ cards, to come up with a way of merchandising the card displays when the stores are closed.
However, the grocer was keen to stress to PG Buzz that if Hallmark merchandisers are in Tesco stores during the day, they are maintaining the two-metre social distancing by closing the aisle off while the greeting card replenishment is in motion.
Hallmark has purchased some of the Medi-Visors from Windles as part of the PPE provision for its merchandising teams.
The card displays in Tesco’s Express stores are currently not being merchandised, but the retailer is understood to be reviewing alternative solutions on this front with Hallmark.
