Thortful And ProCo Donate 15,000 PPE Visors To NHS Workers

Online card operator Thortful has been incredibly active and generous, not only on the card front, but also in providing direct support of NHS workers. Working with its printing partner ProCo Print, thortful is donating 500 PPE visors a day for the whole of April to the NHS frontline. This important protective equipment is going into hospitals and GP practices across the country to help keep staff protected.

Production began on 1 April and has seen ProCo repurposing some of its 52,000sq ft production facility as well as its expertise in laser cutting and assembly to produce the PPE full face visors for NHS staff fighting CoVid-19 in hospitals throughout the UK.

This all came about when Jon Bailey, ceo of Sheffield-based ProCo received a call from fellow print exec, Jon Tolly, md of Nottingham-based Prime Group, (whose wife works as a critical care practitioner at an NHS intensive care unit), explaining they were lacking in critical PPE, including visors.

Without hesitation ProCo and Thortful offered support to Prime Group to increase their own production over the coming weeks.

As Andy Pearce, ceo of Thortful commented: “At thortful we are lucky that our business currently has not yet been adversely affected by what’s going on in the world, and as such we as a business wanted to help where we could. I’m proud to be able to help NHS frontline staff in this small way”.

Elaborating, Jon Bailey, ceo of ProCo said: “When I received the call from Jon explaining what they were doing I didn’t hesitate to offer our support. We’ve built a special production line and trained our staff using the technical drawings and knowhow from the Prime team. We’ve already had some incredible feedback to say they were very welcomed by staff in ICU, theatres and the maternity units”.

Reflecting the needs and feelings of the nation the selection of cards catering for this self-isolation, social distancing, home working time continues to grow by the day on the Thortful site. Here are just a small selection from its recent Instagram posts…
