A reaction to a Dean Morris birthday card broke through the seriousness of Covid-19 news causing chaos in the ITV news studio.
Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan broke TV protocol on yesterday’s (March 30) breakfast programme when he read out the cheeky birthday message on a Dean Morris card that had been sent to him by his famous actor and former footballer friend Vinnie Jones.
The TV host, who turned 55 yesterday did not self-censor and read out the entire message on the card: ‘Happy birthday you total legend’ and in smaller writing, ‘total b***end.’
Somewhat baffled by his words, Pier’s co-host Charlotte Hawkins jumped in to apologise to viewers and said that the term was not suitable for daytime television.
A little flustered, Piers tried to brush it off saying that with everything else going on allowances were being made.
“Haven’t we learned we can have a laugh? I can’t even get a birthday card or a cake? Surely, I’m allowed to have a laugh with Vinnie,” said Piers.
Charlotte then replied: ‘Most of the messages you’re getting aren’t repeatable, does that tell you something?’
Piers also featured some of his other birthday card experiences on air as well as on his Instagram page, redeeming himself somewhat by including making a special mention of thanks to Charlotte’s five-year old daughter Ella-Rose who had made him a special card.
This is not the first time Dean Morris and his cards have made the headlines, the Wolverhampton-based publisher was famously described as ‘surprisingly respectable’ in a double page article in the Mail on Sunday who door-stepped him (back in October 2018) looking for some ‘dirt’ on the publisher, described as “a cottage industry of vile expletives”.

Dean has taken the ITV Good Morning Britain fame in his stride. “Well I always like a bit of coverage in the news, it’s especially welcome in such crazy times,” he told PG Buzz. “I saw it was covered in the Mail (my best friends!) and the Mirror, anyone would think it was slow news day.”
Remaining philosophical as to the upheaval in trading patterns, Dean told PG Buzz: “Like all my peers trade orders have dropped off a cliff, but the retail website is performing better than the seasonal average so that’s keeping me occupied in between falling into a YouTube rabbit hole!”
He is currently his this time to “designing and brainstorming new ideas and devoting more time to Dean Morris Cards social media. It feels especially important right now, both commercially and personally to be connecting with my followers.” Is Piers Morgan a new recruit?
‘Thanks to Ella-Rose for my fabulous birthday card. I think she nailed the hair.’
