Trend Spot: The Big Cat Prowl

The prowl of the ‘big cats’ is still ‘feline’ incredibly strong, with prints of their beautiful fur markings having leapt ‘purr-fectly’ from the fashion scene onto greeting cards, giftwrap and home accessories.

Arguably part of the tropical trend and an extension of the Frida Kahlo influence, these majestic, powerful predators featured on the BBC’s Big Cats TV series last autumn, which highlighted some species’ depletion, with footage of mountain lions, Iberian lynx, Spanish tigers, larger versions of our own furry felines at home, rarely seen in the wild.

And their beauty and fierceness extends from being seen as a ‘king of the jungle’ to one also which chimes as a symbol of female empowerment.

PG Buzz shares some trend-reflective card designs on this big cat trend.

They are likely trending because of the whole tropical trend, but for us they will never go out of fashion!” says Frank Nicholls, co-director of Tache.
