Publishers, Retailers And Suppliers Get Ready To Paint The Town At The Henries

Hundreds and hundreds of card publishers of all shapes and sizes, leading suppliers, wholesalers, charities and buyers from specialist multiples, grocers, department stores and indies are putting the final touches to their outfits for the industry’s ‘big night’ – The Henries greeting card awards event, which takes place in the Nine Kings Suite of the Royal Lancaster Hotel, overlooking London’s Hyde Park on Thursday 3 October.

Among the retail names who will be there to find out the winners of the prestigious accolades include Cardzone, John Lewis, Card Factory, Paperchase, WHSmith, Sainsbury’s, Waterstones, Moonpig as well as leading indies including House of Cards, Postmark, Mooch, Unit 7, Cardies and First Class Greetings.

As part of its 100th anniversary celebrations, the GCA is the headline sponsor of The Henries this year. In keeping with this, the theme of the event is ‘100 years of living history’ with guests being encouraged to pick one of the decades from the 1920s to the present, and dress accordingly with table props (sponsored by House of Cards) adding to the fun.

Those seeking extra adornment at the event, award-winning face painter Zoe Thornbury-Phillips, founder of About Face, will be there with two of her fellow artists in a designated Adornment Station, sponsored by Belly Button Designs, adding subtle and not so subtle decorations after the awards ceremony (using bio-degradable glitter and easily washable paints) while top DJs Freightrain will be spinning some discs and the House of Cards photobooth will be in full use, no doubt.
