‘Ee By Gum’ Thortful Is Launching Into Regional Cards – Yorkshire’s First Up

Thortful.com, the online greeting card publisher portal has revealed it is making a move into ‘local’ cards, kicking off with a Yorkshire selection of 30 designs on Yorkshire Day on August 1.

“This is just the start, we will also be expanding to cater for other areas,” David White, who is heading up the PR for Thortful’s launch, told PG Buzz. “I’m from Yorkshire myself so know how much people love the local banter.”

Thortful’s Yorkshire Collection brings together designs from nine different publishers/designers –

Redback Cards, Jelly Armchair, Memelou, Oh My! Designs, Reyt Good Illustration, Sweetpea Print Design, Do You Punctuate?, Little Birds Talk and Project Pretty – which feature the Yorkshire dialect as well as a couple of Yorkshire puddings and flat caps!

The cards are all on sale for £3.29 (+P&P) from Thortful.com

Sarah Pearce, head of marketing at thortful.com comments “Yorkshire has arguably the most iconic and recognisable dialect throughout the entire UK. At thortful we love the quirkiness of the phrases used and are delighted to offer our customers the chance to send greeting cards which celebrate everything that Yorkshire has to offer.”

Thortful’s launch comes at a time when the popularity for ‘local flavours’ is growing at retail, including on the card racks.

Last month Fenwick department store group revealed recently how, despite its move to a centralised buying function, around 30% of the cards on display in each of its nine stores will be ‘local’, be that in specific captions, language used, subject matter or artists/publishers from the vicinity of the store.
