Hallmark To Phase Out Cellobags On Its Branded Cards

Prepare for nakedness from Hallmark Cards as the UK card publisher has confirmed that it is to phase out cellobags from its branded ranges where no extra protection is required for the designs. 

This news comes a few weeks after the publisher attracted considerable attention on one of its stands at PG Live, that was largely dedicated to its new CupCycled cards collection, printed on board made from a combination of disposable coffee cups and responsibly sourced FSC certified paper.

Further underlining its commitment to the environment, Hallmark is feted in WWF-UK’s Timber Scorecard, which has just been released.  Hallmark received the highest possible score of ‘3 Trees’ for its commitment to source timber and paper products sustainably, and prove it gives priority to using FSC and recycled materials in line with the requirements of The European Union Timber Regulation.

Amanda Del Prete, Hallmark UK’s managing director said: “Social responsibility is high on our agenda, with all our paper and board coming from sustainable sources. We are proud to hold FSC certification and we choose FSC certified materials wherever possible, but as a minimum we will always ensure that all our materials come from responsible sources and are fully compliant to EU timber regulations. Being recognised for this by the WWF affirms we are doing the right things with our sustainability practices.”

Hallmark was one of 122 companies and retailers who were reviewed by WWF-UK for the scorecard. Among the other industry names to be included in this annual review were IG Design Group (which was also awarded 3 Trees), Paperchase (2 Trees), Card Factory (1 Tree), UKG (1 Tree), GBCC (0 Trees) and Clintons (0 Trees).
