After 20 years of running the UK’s Greeting Card Association, Sharon Little, the GCA’s much loved ceo has announced that she is to fulfill a dream and go traveling round the world.
Sharon will officially end her role at the GCA at the end of November.
There is no denying that Sharon has loved her time running the GCA. “I have the best job in the world” she often told people, but has had a hanker to see more of the world for many years and feels now’s the time to do it.
“It’s been amazing!” she told PG Buzz, summing up her time with the GCA. “It’s been 20 very happy years full of growth and great achievements for the GCA.”
Sharon took over the running of the GCA right at the start of it coming under the custodianship of Max Publishing (owners of PG and PG Buzz).
Commenting on Sharon’s recent announcement, Jakki Brown, joint managing director of Max Publishing and editor of PG said: “I have had the good fortune of sharing an office with Sharon for 20 years. What she has achieved through the GCA is incredible, not just in the number of members it now has (standing at almost 500), but the initiatives she has spearheaded, such as Speed-Dating with Dragons, Thinking of You Week and Festive Friday, as well as the profile she has built of our industry in the world at large, appearing on BBC Breakfast, Radio 4’s Today programme for starters.”
Sharon will be leaving at the beginning of December after Festive Friday, and saying her fond goodbyes to members at The Henries tonight (October 4) and the GCA AGM on 17 October.
As Jakki added: “Sharon leaves a strong legacy and will no doubt make us all very envious of her Facebook posts.
The hard job of finding a replacement for her is underway.”
