IG Design Group (previously known as International Greetings) has developed a bespoke everyday greeting card and giftwrap collection for Aldi, which is now on sale as part of a trial in 10 stores.
This follows on from news revealed by PG Buzz last week (click here) that the value grocer is trailing selling a selection of best selling Card Factory greeting cards in a dozen of its stores.
While the Card Factory card selection is on sale in Aldi stores in the north, the IG Design Group’s pilot involves stores in the south.
Lance Burn, managing director of IG Design Group UK (DGUK) told PG Buzz: “As an existing and longstanding partner supplier to Aldi UK we’re naturally delighted to be participating in this trial that we feel is a natural evolution to our current supply to Aldi of single card solutions merchandised in CDUs.”
Drawing on its experience of designing, in-house manufacturing and direct-to-store delivery, Lance explains how the DGUK design studio developed a bespoke single card and gift-packaging proposition “specifically with the Aldi consumer in mind and will be a real point of difference to alternatives on the High Street.”
The collection comprises 107 greeting card designs (across multiple price points, from 49p-£1.99 and different formats) and 12 giftwrapping products.
The collection is displayed on a specifically designed fixture which incorporates the giftwrapping items under the cards.
The Card Factory trial, which is running concurrently in a dozen Aldi stores, is for single priced cards (99p) and is a smaller selection of 64 cards and no wrap products.
Both trials are expected to run for three months.
IG Design Group is nudging up towards selling £10 million worth of everyday cards in the UK through the bespoke selections it creates for Poundland, B&M and Wilko, designed by teams in its studio in Wales.
