The Kettering-based card and gift business, co-owned by Mark Coulson and Hannah MacLeod is doubling the size of its studio/warehouse to now reside in a 2,600sq ft premises. The additional 1,300sq ft. space is being put to good use as a dedicated warehouse for the company’s products.

Now in the final touches of renovation, the new space leads straight off the studio through double doors to enable the smooth running of the business.

This is a far cry from 2009, when the talented couple started the company, running it from an office at home.

“As the business grew the products started taking over the entire house; at one low-point we had to move a giant roll of bubblewrap to watch television!” admits Mark.

Eventually they could take no more necessitating a move into a purpose built 1,300 sq ft unit. Now, only a few years later the company has expanded into the adjecent unit to cope with its sustained growth.

This physical expansion is being matched by the company’s online capacity, having just gone live on a new trade website www.coulsonmacleod-trade.com

“Our trade customers can now create their own account to see their previous orders and reorder them too. Plus it has all our latest personalised products on there too,” explains Hannah.

And that’s not all…in readiness for PG Live next month, the publisher is just about to take delivery of a whopping 100 page catalogue which features the company’s growing product portfolio. Among these is its wooden greeting cards, which have just been repackaged.

Typography and personalisation have become two key attributes of the Coulson Macleod portfolio.

“We’ve done away with cellobags so that each wooden card is now packed in recyclable kraft board. Plus we have developed bespoke wooden point of sale units. It’s all happening!” says Hannah enthusiastically.

Coulson Macleod is exhibiting at PG Live on June 5-6 at London’s Business Design Centre – Stand 112.
