Alison Hardcastle, owner of the eponymous card company has teamed up with British jewellery brand, Tatty Devine to produce a range of cards. The cards, which combine iconic Tatty Devine pieces with Alison’s distinctive illustrative style were launched earlier this week at Top Drawer with great success.

The greeting card collaboration came about when Alison was approached by members of the Tatty Devine team who explained they were keen to work with the right greeting card publisher to translate their distinctive quirky jewellery designs onto greeting cards.

Tatty Devine is still owned and run by Harriet Vine and Rosie Wolfenden, who started the business in 1996 having met at art school. They have built up a strong following for their distinctive collections of playful, fun and colourful jewellery, the majority of which is made from laser cut acrylic.

Elaborating, Alison told PG Buzz: “They felt that our styles worked well together – we have a similar design ethos of creating fun and original designs which are all about colour, art and culture. Our colour palettes and design styles marry really well too.”

This was evident on Alison’s stand at Top Drawer on which the cards and some of the items of jewellery upon which they are based were displayed together.

There were some challenges on the design front, namely making sure that the cards perfectly captured the item of jewellery upon which they were based while also having enough of Alison’s design and illustrative input to make it very definitely an Alison Hardcastle design as well. “As the cards are also going on sale in the Tatty Devine shops as well as elsewhere it was important that the cards were recognisable as being based on their pieces and that consumers would make the link. At the same time though, the Tatty Devine team were brilliant at giving me enough design freedom to enable me to to put my take on it,” Alison said.
