Phillip leaves behind a 25 year-strong legacy in Virtual Safari, the humorous card range from Emotional Rescue, which continues to be a successful, instantly recognisable brand on the UK high street. Everyone at Emotional Rescue was shocked and saddened at the news of Phillip’s sudden passing, Jennie Rutter, creative director said of Phillip: “He was a lovely, kind and gentle man who had the prolific ability to write and design cards that were clever, commercial and extremely funny. Our hearts and thoughts go out to Phillip’s family at this time. He will be sorely missed.”

David Greaves, former managing director of Emotional Rescue added, “I was so sorry to hear the news about Phil. I spent many happy years working with him and Jen, often wetting my pants at the product we created! Following on from The Odd Squad and On the Ceiling, Virtual Safari helped establish Emotional Rescue as the market leading supplier of humour and like On the Ceiling, Virtual Safari spawned many imitators. As ever, imitation is the best form of flattery. Phil’s copy was very original and his imagery at times was stunning. A really talented guy who will be sadly missed.”
