Retail buyers from Waterstones, WHSmith, Calendar Club, Clintons and House of Cards are among the retail names which are looking forward to attending the first ever Calies, the new UK Calendar Awards.
Retailers will join a throng of calendar and diary producers as well as trade suppliers at The Calies 2017 awards event, which takes place on Wednesday 29 November at the rather splendid Stationers’ Hall, in the shadow of St Paul’s Cathedral in the City of London.
The late afternoon/early evening event is being organised by Max Publishing, owners of Progressive Greetings as part of its commitment to the calendar and diaries sector, with The Calies superceding the former National Calendar Awards (NCA).
The winners of the awards will be unveiled at a late afternoon/early evening event (5pm-8pm). The buzzy format of the event will involve a drinks and canapés reception, a couple of snappy keynote speeches by industry experts, a pacey awards ceremony and then some more networking and drinks.
Comedian Tania Edwards will host the punchy awards ceremony. Tania, fresh from her own appearances at Edinburgh Festival has also just supported Katherine Ryan on her sell out tour.
As Warren Lomax, joint md of Max Publishing commented: “Tania is ideally suited to cope with the sharp wit of those in the calendar and diary community, who, together with retailers and licensors will make up the audience at the first ever Calies”.
