With only a few days to go before the first ever Manchester Stationery Show is set to open its doors (on 31 October to 1 November at the Cotton Sheds, Victoria Warehouse in Old Trafford), organisers, exhibitors and visiting retailers are dotting the ‘I’s and crossing the ‘t’s on their final preparations.

And, as part of the show’s attractions, they can find out what their style of ‘t crossing’ and their handwriting generally reveals about their personality.

As one of the many extra features at the show, well-known graphologist Christina Strang, will not only sharing insights about the written word and what it says about us, but will also be offering interested individuals the opportunity to have their handwriting analysed free of charge.

Christina will be speaking on Tuesday 31 October (12.30-1pm) and again on the Wednesday (3.30pm-4pm).

The Manchester Stationery Show, organised by Ocean Media Group, will encompass 40 exhibitors, collectively representing 70 leading stationery brands. These include Allsorted, Caroline Gardner, Danilo, Flame Tree Publishing, Portico Designs and Silk Hat.

Included in the exhibitors are the six winners of the LaunchPad competition. The LaunchPad competition, which was open to fledgling stationery businesses looking to get a foot up in the design-led stationery market. The winners are Emma Lawrence Designs, Green Pebble, Paper Mirchi, Stationery Geek, Mayblossoming and Peace & Blessings.

Among the speakers lined-up for the show are: retail expert Mick Weedon whose talk ‘From Selling Stuff to Doing Stuff’ will cover: the changing nature of High Street retailing; Faika Khurram, retail analyst for Bright Disposition will be covering The Changing Dynamics of Stationery Retailing and Henri Davies, chair of the GA and independent retail expert talk will be on the subject of ‘Five ways to use your independence to your advantage and grow your sales in 2018’.

Meanwhile, as previously announced on PG Buzz, the show also includes ‘Thirty under Thirty’. As Vanessa Fortnam, marketing manager of the show explains this is a celebration of 30 people under the age of 30 years of age “who are each contributing to the success and future of the stationery industry”.

The judges’ star choices among these will be revealed at the After-Show drinks party on the first night.

The exhibition will also encompass Creative Stationery Workshops for which exhibitors Manuscript, Eddings, Glue Dots and Paper Mirchi have put together some simple, but effective ideas for workshops that retailers could run themselves, or with some supplier help.
