With only a few days to go before Thinking of You Week officially kicks off, the UK’s largest greeting card retailer, Card Factory, has got behind the initiative.

The value card retailer Card Factory is promoting Thinking of You Week (which takes place next week, 25 September- 1 October) for the first time ever. This GCA initiative was conceived to encourage people to send extra greeting cards.

Card Factory has sent out a cute animated emailer to its entire database of consumers urging them to ‘show them you care’, bringing one of its pug dog designs ‘to life’ to help get the message across.

‘Put a smile on a special someone’s face with a card to let them know how loved they are’ reads the copy, detailing how Thinking Of You week starts on the 25 September and is ‘and is all about inspiring people to send cards to those they care about’ with links through to its online webshop to various card types.

Meanwhile, leading independent retailer, Calliope Gifts is introducing a special incentive to encourage its customers to get behind Thinking of You Week. The award winning indie (which has shops in Dorking, Alton and Haywards Heath) is introducing a ‘buy three, get one free’ offer that it is supporting by creating arresting windows displays that are bursting with card designs and will be putting up posters on Sunday night to get customers excited. All its cards, including its Christmas cards and packs are included in the offer.

As Philip Downer, md of Calliope Gifts told PG Buzz: “We’re in favour of broadcasting to our customers all the benefits that come from sending a card:

–      That you can brighten someone’s day quite considerably, and have a much more positive and lasting impact than by using social media.

–      That you can share cards with the people closest to you – you display them on your mantelpiece or on your desk, so funnily enough they’re both more public and more personal than a short text message shoved out into the ether

–      That the range of cards available at Calliope is quite frankly one of the best anywhere, and we want to encourage more people to sample it and to make us their shop of choice (which is also why we run a greetings card loyalty scheme)

–      That, as we run through the biggest month for birthdays and towards the biggest card/gift buying season of them all, customers need to think about card buying – and can make some savings if they stock up now.

So, it’s a combination of goodwill and commerce. A great combination.”
