Farewell to Lynn Tait

Family and friends gather to say goodbye

Over 360 people attended the funeral of Lynn Tait yesterday (June 12), including family, friends, industry chums and many from people from the Southend community where she was well-loved for her charity works and her retail businesses over the years.

The well-attended service, testament to the popularity of this incredible woman, was held at St Saviour’s Church in Westcliff-on-Sea, with a wake held at the Maritime Rooms in the Cliffs Pavilion; which was very fitting as this is the spiritual home of Lynn’s Ladder Club.

A collection was held, at the funeral, for Lynn’s favourite charities: Action for Kids and Myeloma UK (the latter being connected to the illness that she had been fighting for four years).

A special ‘greeting card industry’ memorial is to arranged over the next few months, likely to be one afternoon in London in order that so many in the industry can pay their respects and celebrate the life of Lynn.

Lynn’s legacy lives on through many publishers who have ‘graduated’ from The Ladder Club, but also the Lynn Tait Gallery in Southend. Meanwhile, concluding an arrangement that Lynn was delighted to have instigated shortly before she died, Jenny Cummins, md of McMillan Cards sealed the deal with Lynn’s protégé Poppy-Rae Beckwith for the Waite and Tait greeting card collection to be distributed in Australia.
