GCA website updated with 300 press contacts

Here’s another benefit of belonging to the Greeting Card Association – access to a database of 300 contacts for regional press!

GCA logoThe team at the GCA has just finished the mammoth job of updating the press contacts list in the members’ area of the GCA website. Now any GCA member can login and find the name, email and phone number of news reporters, the news desk and content editors for over 300 publications – all listed by region. It’s a great resource for members as Sharon Little, the ceo of the GCA explains: “Getting press coverage is a great way to boost your business, but when you’re so busy actually running your business, it’s sometimes the last thing you think about! Most local press teams love to hear stories about events, winning awards and milestone anniversaries, and our updated contact list makes it easy to get in touch. It’s just another way to promote your business and get your name out there.”

Meanwhile Sharon was given a good-natured grilling by Graham Seaman on his BBC Radio Wiltshire programme last week (21 June) about whether we should bother with Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day and that these occasions are just an excuse for businesses to make money. Sharon told Graham: “Yes, these occasions are important for business, but they are important for people as well. When you send a card, you send a little piece of yourself. You’ve taken the time to choose a card, write it and send it. It is important to mark these occasions and tell someone you’re thinking of them.”

The GCA was also the feature of a short video clip made by the Briffa law firm, who specialises in intellectual property law. Briffa has worked with a number of GCA members on copyright and IP issues. Briffa interviewed Sharon about the GCA at the recent PG Live.

Finally, if you’re attending Harrogate Home & Gift next month, look out for the giant new GCA Thinking of You sign directing people to the Greetings and Stationery Gallery!
